Secure a quiet and uninterrupted space for your Zoom audition.
Set up your environment and technology in advance.
Sign into your Zoom a few minutes before your assigned time.
Due to our current restrictions, you will be required to submit video recordings for the McCallum Fine Arts Academy Band Major audition. We are using a video recording platform called FlipGrid to submit videos. You can either click the links below or copy and paste them into your browser.
Submit your "Prepared Solo Video" and "Scales Video" separately. Remember that the judges will need to see your face and instrument during the video recording. Please be sure to save/download your FlipGrid video to your device in case of technical difficulties. The window for submissions is currently open and will close on Monday, Feb 8th.
Prepared Solo
Before performing, state your full name and instrument.
Perform a prepared solo that best demonstrates your musical ability and talent level. Music from the UIL Prescribed Music List (Class I, II or III), TMEA Etudes or similar literature is preferred. Popular music/solos are not recommended. Memorization is not required.

Scales
Before performing, state your full name and instrument.
Record all 12 Major scales (written C/G/D/A/E/B/F#(Gb)/C#(Db)/Ab/Eb/Bb/F). Scales are to be performed one or two octaves (preferred). Memorization is not required but recommended.

Percussion
If you have any concerns about access to instruments, please e-mail Mr. Ehlers at matthew.ehlers@austinisd.org. You can perform on a practice pad and beginner bell kit if needed. We can be flexible and accommodating during these challenging times.
