Virtual Audition Description
Students will be required to submit a recorded video audition this year. For this video audition, students should film themselves, so their body and instruments are fully in frame. This will help the directors to better evaluate posture and instrument set up. The student should record themselves in a quiet room against a bare wall if possible. We recommend having a parent or sibling help set up the recording device and monitor the recording. The video recording should be recorded on the highest quality video capable device that the student has access to. However, directors will judge solely on performance and not audio quality.
Once recording begins, student should clearly state out loud their name, their instrument, and the title of their piece. Student should then perform their piece in one take without stopping and to the best of their ability. You can re-record as many times as you like, but you may only submit one performance for evaluation.
Be sure to upload to the folder of your instrument. When naming the files, please include the student's name and title of the piece. All recordings should be submitted by February 8th.
All students who submit an audition video will also register for an interview time on Monday, February 15th. The interview will be done over Zoom between the student and the two orchestra directors. The interview should not last longer than 5 minutes.
